Angels bring back there two studs for another year.
Outfielder Vladimir Guerrero and ace pitcher John Lackey will be wearing Angels uniforms next year. The team went ahead and excised the options for 2009 and are looking to have the same performance as last year from these two players.
Vlad is 32 years old, and batted .303 with 27 home runs and 91 RBIs this past season, Guerrero will earn 15 million dollars this next season. The angles expect nothing less from Vlad this next season, and with an early post season exit this year, look for the angels to try and go further in the post season next year.
John Lackey was 12-5 this season with an ERA of 3.75. Lackey was a crucial part to the angles success this past season, and even coming one out away from a no-hitter in boston. With lackey sticking around this year, another big name pitcher would not be out of the question this off season. Lackey will make 9 million this year.
In addition to the Angles, they will not exercise there option for Garret Anderson. Instead they chose to buyout his contract. They will have an exclusive 15 day, negotiating period to spark up a new contract with him.
